    Default Passage at Pothole

Ok looking at the map there appears to be a passage from Pothole to Breakdown room on Peanut line, by the MAP it looks to be about same (maybe just a bit smaller) size as Nicholson tunnel...
The distance on this would be great little loop 1100 or 1200 ft, even sticking to the cave 1, no traverses could still do it on 3rds and be a shorter dive than a round trip to Olsen from P1.

Is there a reason it is not named? is there a GoldLine there? or am I thinking WAY over my current skill set?

    Thanks,

    Tim

    i think it's a small sidemount thing.

It's called the crossunder. It has a minor SM restriction on the peanut side. I wouldn't recommend it for a new Cave 1 diver.

Is there a gold line there from Peanut with a jump from peanut to crossunder? something to go look at even if not doing the tunnel ? Maybe something to consider after 50 or more dives?

it's on the floor of the breakdown room but it's not marked

it's not marked but it's pretty easy to spot when you are coming back on the peanut line. You'll be ascending the breakdown and you can see the line on the lower of the two tunnels as it comes out pretty far. Wouldn't bother with it at C1 level, it's not that tight, but it's sidemount only for most people and it is VERY silty. Nice little passage though. The one above it goes somewhere, but I haven't gotten far enough back to see where it goes.

It obviously wouldn't be gold line as it is a sidepassage.... It's the same thing as the crossover tunnel, white line that connects Peanut to Olsen.

Would recommend getting a fair amount of experience, if not for your sake, then the sake of this passage which is showing some wear and tear. It is fairly small and silty, and needs a gentle technique to avoid too much tank/wall contact.

If you want to take a look, take the jump to it from pothole. Poke your head in as far as you're comfortable. You may have to back out, and expect bad vis on your way out.

Yeah...looking is ALL I want for now... and better to ask first, just to have some expectation. Based on Kelly's description, may never be a tunnel that interests me. I like wiggle room at this point in my diving, but still may look at it.

    Thanks guys,

    Tim
