Cool Carolina Cavers & The Mill Pond

The Mill Pond is an incredible place as it has multiple caves within a short boat ride from each other. Our stay at the Hole in the Wall House was incredible.

Hope you enjoy the short clip from some of the diving. Our team of divers were mostly from North Carolina but two divers, Patrick Picard and Paul Tozer, were from Toronto. Excellent meeting you guys and spending the week cave diving!

Thanks Tony! Next time you need to come down with us.

I believe the next time I'm down in the mill pond area I will be taking a open circuit sidemount course with Edd Sorenson. I saw him teaching a class as I was exiting the cave and he was absolutely unbelievable in the water. He was writing something on his slate at the mouth of the cave and was hovering basically still as a rock in the water.

Plus there is so much sidemount passage there it really chaps my arse in back-mount.

There are plenty of reasons to take a class with Edd. Sounds like you've found the best one (below). I will say that as impressive as he is in his fully suspended state, you don't fully appreciate it until you dive with him. When he's diving one fill to your two, and still has more gas left after the second dive it gets obnoxious. And he makes everythink look too easy. Fairly obnoxious if you ask me . He's certainly in "that class" of divers. I'm hoping to take his SM class get my wife in his SM class as well. I did Apprentice with him, and Cavern/Intro/Full and Deco with Michal, his head instructor, but I still want to take SM.

Plus there is so much sidemount passage there it really chaps my arse in back-mount.
I think this is the reason you see so many SM divers on the Mill Pond, and it's why I think most Mill Pond divers get scooters instead of breathers. There just seems to be a lot more cave to dive when you're flat. That's not the case in all systems (obviously), but the Millpond has plenty of areas where you're just not getting in in anything other than sidemount.

I took Sidemount from Ed is is very humbling and informative.
    Great training!!

A lot of other people use this but I feel that it is very appropriate!
