And hope they have a closed primary tie off. Double whammy

The cookie idea is a good one however I tried that many years ago and what I had happen was the offending party pulled the cookie off of their line and put it on somebody else's line that was run properly.

Just drop a normal arrow or cookie (with your initials) and tell them in person when they try to return it.

The problem with that is, they would think you are depending on their reel to get out.

EDIT: That is if anyone laying line in the way, is capable of thinking

Yep, it would certainly be annoying.

You could leave it right next to their primary tie off. I don't imagine anyone with that little regard for line placement will bother to re-run their primary (if they do, it's good practice!). They'll probably assume someone dropped it and someone else left it on the line so it would be found.

When the cookie reads "Poor Line Work" no one will mistake it for a reel-share request.

    "Poor line work" ???????

After all the reading I've been doing in here, I have to believe you guys can do better than this. Here's an idea: take one sheet of wet notes and write an entire diatribe insulting the diver's mother, daughter, ancestors, instructor, masculinity, competence, intelligence, and morals. I mean....REALLY be offensive. WWPMD? Bonus points for specializing it to the low life that runs the reel poorly but for the sake of time you could carry a few with you, pre-written, and just zip tie the most appropriate one to the line.

Jokes aside, I wouldn't mind the simple feedback method of a cookie. The problem, however, is that most people don't care. It's all about them, and they're doing it their way. Most people get VERY defensive over they're training and skills (no matter HOW poor) and will refuse to seek help. I can run my reel fairly well into jb because I know it well (still could use work, but I doubt I'd get a cookie of shame)..... but I'd love to dive Ginnie with a buddy/mentor more familiar with the system running the line. Maybe the cave mentor program would be a great starting point for that? Additional input from a good diver AND mentorship on a specific cave system? Sounds like a good deal to me!

Some of us were diving Devil's Eye long before there was such a problem with multiple lines. We weren't taught to run the reel so others could run their's, or even get in the cave.

Luckily most of us have adapted, and learned by observing what is currently being taught. It is entirely possible that lines run "down the middle" were put in by someone that was never taught any other way. Most of them would be open to a better method, if you don't aggravate them to the point they aren't listening anymore.

A simple note, suggesting a better way, will do more to solve the problem than telling them they aren't qualified to run a reel, much less dive in caves.
