Thanks for all the feedback. I figured the tree and straight down the center was not the best place, especially given my learning experience. I'm looking forward to getting back down there and getting back in there.

Surprised no comments about not bothering a line in the ear

I find ear easier. Shorter run, more open and quick to gold.

I was there last thursday. Someone had tied off to the big log at 20 ft and ran the line across the middle and down to the right side wall. I can't think of a worse place than that.

Yes, there is no reason we have to run the line through the restriction; start it just inside. Even if you have a total loss of vis, you can still get out without any problem.

The purpose of the guideline is to make your dive safer, not less safe.

The manhole is the hole in the ceiling in the eye where you go lay down for deco

I'm not a big fan of closed primary tie-offs, seen a lot of people get blown up trying to pull that one! Lot easier to take the open ones, wedge yourself in the Ear entrance and have your buddy pull the primary while you reel it in, ijs...

I have not heard that opening referred to the manhole. I am familiar with "The Manhole" in a passage that cuts from the Mainline over towards July Springs. Pretty cool dive BYOLine though.
