I did a 4th check out of gear, gasses and set up. It take a lot of mental preparedness and set up to plunge down 350' below the surface. I was going to take 584cft. of deferent gasses for my 2hr dive.

As I waved good to my shore support I started my swim to the abyss. I dropped in along one of my favorite ridges and followed it to the bottom. As I pasted 225' I paused to gaze at the largest pinnacle I have ever come across I'm sure the would be dinosaurs remains around this ancient monument to creation. No time to explore I was 7mins into my 25min bottom time and another 175' to go before I had to ascend. Getting close I could see the junction of the many gorges that make up La Jolla canyon coming together. Incredible place to be as though I was at the center of the world with stereo blasting to the Greatfull Dead I helicoptered around starring in amazement to this geographic wonder and the life that abounds down there. So disorienting having so many ridges and gorges coming together in one spot not knowing which to follow back.

25mins goes by so fast when your having fun, but when its time to its time to go. I decided to go straight up with the song Sweet Surrender player at full blast I ascended to about 300' and blew my lift bag. I had lost all reference behind for my 100min assent to the surface. It was just me my reel & bag and compass. I did not see land again until I was half way threw my 20' stop. It always put a smile on my face to see land again.

After surfacing with stereo still blasting I just laid on the surface breathing my Oxygen dreading the walk back to the truck."

    (Trying to resist)

    Hmmm...

While I DO like the smell of rosin core solder, off the shelf DOES have a cachet of immediacy...

AND, I could ALWAYS add an inline Amp for speakers...

    lets see...

    No Quarter
    Tubular Bells
    anything by Tomita
    Night on Bald Mountain

    getting harder to resist!!

Jay, I have a friend that might want to sell his, I will ask him tonight.
I will wait till he is drunk to ask him about the price. But I bet He will get rid of it cheaper than 400.

I noticed they has a model with less memory and housing for $99 but if your not doing long deco's it might work.

I picked one of these up when they went on sale - its an older model of MP3 player (not current stuff) and Iriver changes their housings often enough that a newer one won't fit in the underwater case.

For what it is, its nice - and the price is right.....
