My condolences to the family and friends who shared his life. I was one of the lucky ones to be in the water that day with him, and witnessed his ability to wear his soul on his sleeve. We all have a tendency to believe we have many days left on this planet, and he embraced life like it was his last dive. God speed Jack.
When I saw him last Monday at Ginnie, he told me he thought I had quit diving. I assured him that was far from true. I think he was messing with me. We spoke about cave diving related things (politics and gear) the next 4 days. He told me he was going to cave dive for 10 days. He was a good man and certainly took cave diving seriously. He was always one of my sources of advice about gear. I'm going to miss him.
Jackie, my sincere condolences. I saw you waiting and watching for him to return on a few of his dives last week. That picture will stick in my head forever. I'm sorry for your great loss.
Only met Jack once but had a problem with my light in the water at Peacock. I was about to bail when he overheard our discussion in the water and ran to his vehicle to gave me his light so I could do the dive. Anyone who has driven all the way to Florida, geared up, gotten into the water with team mates, and then had one issue make them have to call the dive, appreciate this act. It's this spirit among divers that makes it so enjoyable and I'm sure he did this for many others.

Only knew the man from this forum. I can only imagine meeting him in person. He had to be bigger than life.

The official cause of death for Jack was he succumbed to a heart attack. He didn't suffer, and died doing what he loved. You can't ask for more than that. He's a link to a video I shot of Jack just a few days before his passing. It is missing some music during movie because I had to remove the songs due to copyright issues. Enjoy.
