He's demonstrating a machine that could be a boon to places without sufficient waste treatment plants

In a new video on Bill Gates’s blog, the Gates Foundation co-founder sips water made from human waste using a machine called OmniProcessor, manufactured by Janicki Bioenergy in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, north of Seattle.

As he writes in a blog post:

“I watched the piles of feces go up the conveyer belt and drop into a large bin. They made their way through the machine, getting boiled and treated. A few minutes later I took a long taste of the end result: a glass of delicious drinking water…
Through the ingenious use of a steam engine, it produces more than enough energy to burn the next batch of waste. In other words, it powers itself, with electricity to spare. The next-generation processor, more advanced than the one I saw, will handle waste from 100,000 people, producing up to 86,000 liters of potable water a day and a net 250 kw of electricity…
The processor wouldn’t just keep human waste out of the drinking water; it would turn waste into a commodity with real value in the marketplace.
The video is meantto raise awareness about ways to improve sanitation and access to clean drinking water worldwide. Some 2.5 billion people lack access to proper sanitation, and more than 1 billion people have to defecate outside or in public, contaminating drinking water supplies—a problem that can cause disease and death.

Why don't you ask for your money back and find a forum that is more to your liking?

For the past 35 years, as an aquatic biologist, I have actively investigated numerous fill kills, chemical spills, and pollution sources that have impaired our Nation's waterways. Upon finding the responsible party, I have worked diligently to resolve, through enforcement if necessary, those issues.
My research with fish and aquatic macroinvertebrate populations has been instrumental in the design and implementation of water quality assessment tools that are currently used to help identify and abate pollution sources. Protecting our water resources has been my life's work.
I read all of Tony's articles. Most people on this forum do not. And for those that do read them, they do little else to support clean up and/or protection of our waterways.
Take you, for example. You come to this country 3-4 months/yr., read a few of Tony's articles (if you read them at all), then go cave diving, open your pee valve, piss in our springs, then go home. Please tell me you've done something more than that to protect/conserve our waterways. Please.

I don't pee. I urinate. It sounds fancier.

Whether you urinate, micturate, or even while you masticate - all are good times to read articles about water conservation.
