They actually already have and halcyon even makes a side mount set up. I know halcyon does not equal GUE but......

They also even had a side mounted RB80. Most people probably mistook it for a side mounted fridge which is why it is not talked about more

My understanding is that they do not teach it. I heard they are working on the standards but the last I heard they did not offer it as a class. I am sure there are some issues with the team diving aspect and real sidemount diving as they generally don't go to well together. Their Halcyon sidemount rig is pretty good but I have been told that it has a problem trapping gas because it does not have any bungees on the wing. I have seen where some people are playing with putting innertube around the bladder inside the wing cover to help eliminate this gas trapping issue.

I'm not a GUE diver but the few I've dove with are very good divers. I'm glad they are moving into CCR. I think it will be good for the industry.

Actually the Halcyon Contour sidemount rig is pretty cool. The air trap is BS, they changed the bladder design so it is not an issue. And about the GUE sidemount, it is not gonna happened because their "team" no solo diving concept so Thank God they will take of the overpriced fridge of their backs and put another overpriced fridge on their backs and the rest of us will peacefully sidemount till rest of our lives.

They may not yet offer a side mount class, there was still a side mount clinic as part of their annual conference last month

GUE has been using rebreathers for exploration for nearly 20 years. The use of reberathers for exploration up till now has been with pSCR, a type of gas extender. The JJ-CCR is a fully closed circuit system that uses electronics to maintain a specific set point if not overridden by manual addition. For many years, the though of a voodoo nitrox mixing machine controlling what one is breathing was considered less than idea. Technology has come a long way and a few articles in GUE's Quest magazine highlight how OC, pSCR, and CCR were used on one of the worlds most significant shipwreck finds, Mars the Magnificent. The ship sank in 1564 with an estimated 800 lives onboard during a fierce battle.
