Wow, so many things cross my poor old mind.
Kelly, I have been looking for Mr Peabody and the way back machine ever since my knees starting going 10 or so years ago. I dove the Cathedral/Falmouth/Edwards system, and that area, a lot back in "the day". The days of crystal clear water were few then, it always looked more like Lafayette Blue than Jenny, even 35 years ago. I cannot think of one place I dive now, except maybe JB on a good day, that has the same water in it it did 35 years ago. Leon sinks certainly does not. What I never hear is a plan to make the degradation stop. Why, because you cannot control the world, at least until I take over. So I will tell you the choice that this "old timer" has made. I go and dive anyhow and just deal with the reality of present day. We have people now south of Tallahassee pushing out cave at 300 feet deep in 8 feet of vis using a scooter. We teach everyone in places like Peacock, Jenny, Little River, JB, and they are not prepared to deal with a Harvey's or Hatchet, or even a Wayne's World.
If you want to go back 35 years, PM me, I can explain the best ways to dive Uno, Wakulla, Sullivan, Chips, Little Dismal, Turner, Indian, and quite a few others. You will need a canoe for a couple of them, a dark colored van, a really good cart, and you have to learn to love alligators.
Guys, if you don't want the line buried, stop running it on the bottom of the cave, that is where God has put the silt, clay and sand that it is getting buried in.
Forrest, the CDS has no more risk today that it has had for the last 20 years. This is disheartening to me because it tells me that you know that you are going to loose at least a portion of the lawsuit. I know that Florida has proportional liability, and I can only surmise that you have been advised that the CDS is going to take a hit. I feel bad about this, and PM me if I can help. Do we need to send more money?
Kelly, I will not send a cent to the SCCI, I have too vivid a memory of being in meetings along with Jim Stevenson and Todd Kincaid and others concerning access to the Leon Sinks and Wakulla Springs, and the disrespectful way the diving community, other than the WKPP, was treated.
