Default 2015 NSS CDS Workshop Dates

    Attention NSS CDS Members!!
We are in the planning process for the 2015 Workshop and Membership Meeting. We already have some great ideas, and are sure that this is going to be another great Workshop.

There has been discussion of changing the date of the Workshop to the weekend before Memorial Day weekend, May 15-17. We want to know what you think, so please vote in the poll!!

The CDS did move the date once off the Memorial Day weekend, and if I remember correctly the attendance was way down because there is a core group, for example the Texas A&M group (approx. 25 people), that plan on that weekend. The CDS struggled with the thought that the holiday impeded people from coming and vendors, but in reality people planned on the 3 day weekend for this event. You did a great job last year, and wish you good luck.

There seems to be some confusion as the success or lack thereof for NSSCDS Workshops being conducted on non Memorial Day weekends (MDW).

This hopefully will straighten out this confusion.

The workshop was held at Otter Springs, Beth Murphy took over at the last minute due to the original workshop chair being sick and having to undergo surgery. The workshop was not held over MDW.

We had a surprisingly good turnout (126 paid admissions)Made something like $6,000.00

We had $3200 in sponsor income we had 2K – 3K in raffle prizes donated.

    We had 10-12 exhibitors

126 is hardly a good turnout. 250-300 is more the norm.

Does anyone know when the last workshop with 250-300 turnout was?

From the chair for the most recent Marianna Workshop: "The one I organized had about 300 attendees, over 20 vendors, about $13,000 in revenue of which over $8,000 was profit."

    PM sent.

While location probably played a small role in it there was more to it than that. I put a lot of effort into organizing that event and got great results. I also created a little controversy that didn't end up playing out to anything as I knew it wouldn't but we all know how cave divers love drama...

Rob... They are a lot of work by all volunteers involved. All done for the good of the organization and its members. After being involved with last years Workshop, my hats off to anyone who has taken that it on in the past.
