Default Please pick your spool from lips bypass

There is a spool with orange fluorescent line at the jump at lips bypass. It is not connected to the main line it starts at a rock about 10 ft away from the main line. It has initials 'DM'. It has been there for over 3 weeks.

I will be happy to pick it ups for you and leave it at Ginnie shop.

    Thanks,

    Xenia

I remember seeing that spool weeks ago when I was there. I found it weird that it would still be in there.

Sure it wasn't BM? Maybe back from the caymen island vacation and ready to make another map?

Now this is a perfect example of the problem with having your initials on your gear. You will be the instant A-hole for stuff like this and people will know who you are.

Once upon a time in a Mexican cave far far away, a diver accidentally dropped his reel while putting in a jump. It fell many feet down in between a lot of delicate decorations with very silty sides and bottom. This diver wanted to just leave it there due to the extreme difficulty of retrieval without cave damage. Hopefully after the small puff of silt cleared, the reel would be buried and no body would ever even know it was there. Not the case, it was 3/4 buried in the silt and the initials on the side were clearly visible. "D6" could not remain there for eternity, so the diver went and got it.

    Initial nothing. Keep everything.

    Could be yours!

Personally I could not care less who thus spool belongs to. First time I saw it I thought someone was in there and did not want to go in with the possibility of bumping heads. Second time, I ran my line next to it since I though none was there after all these weeks it was left there. Still it is not cool. And it wasn't dropped Don, it was tied off!

Xenia, it was nice chatting with you yesterday.

BTW -- there has been a jump installed from Hill 400 into July Springs every time I've gone by since the end of October. Granted, that's only four or five times, but it seems odd that there would be that many people visiting that section of the cave every single time I'm going by there....

That line to July was there at beginning of October.

Ken, it was great to meet you yesterday and it was fun chatting with you as well.

Is there a line committee at Ginnie? I will be happy to remove the spool for them or report it.
