Ever sucked up fishing line? It'll sink your battleship. Can't see it, either. Also, while line *should* be tight, sometimes it isn't. Things happen, and I don't often plan for 'best case'.
Also, I believe those solid metal prop assemblies use the same clutch as the adjustable ones with the stupid "special screw", and if your UV26 had a non-adjustable prop, you couldn't adjust speed without one of those fancy motors. At that point, buy another scooter all together.
you can find fishing line on your way into a lot of caves as well...
I must be the luckiest person out there because I think I have over 500 scooter cave dives and have been successful in not getting line entanglements, fishing line or Shroud of Turin in my scooterHave used/owned a DV3X, DV100, Mako, and SS,and have been fortunate to never have prop, rear assembly, or clutch assembly issues. Really I think these scooters are robust, and where there may be better now,the previous scooters have done some major exploration successfully in their past without major issues, and would serve the OP very well.

Plenty of those exploration stories come to mind that involve the props falling off. Chips hole comes to mind.
A buddy of mine had the yoke screw strip out resulting in a backwards moving Gavin. I've PERSONALLY had the 'special screw' back out on an exploration dive and seen it happen on another dive, and I was there when a friend of mine got fishing line into the prop at Manatee.
There was a period where the clutch plates were breaking in half, too.
Yes, you can dive those scooters, and they were present for a LOT of exploration dives in some gnarly conditions, but there's better stuff out there now. If you can afford it, get it.
