It's unfortunate. They said to qualify it normally would require an investment of $1 million dollars but my immigration lawyer said due to the present state of the economy applications from $450k or so were getting in. That was well above my means so I didn't investigate further. The sad part is the dive shop i wanted to buy ended up just closing down instead, that's 4-5 people that were now out of job. That's why I ended up in Canada, I'm originally from the UK and the process to immigrate here was much easier, I tried the US first and then tried again once after becoming Canadian (I thought it might have have made it easier because of NAFTA) but it still was a no go. And in all fairness I really like it here, it's just the weather and lack of caves (only one small system 6hrs away) and short diving season that's an issue!

That seems kinda crazy. I know people who immigrated for much less investment.... You could always marry an American.

I might just have to do some drunken tubing at Ginnie and talk some girl into running to Vegas with me!

There are a lot of factors that they take into account and the investment amount is only one factor. I know people who did it for less as they opened a business from scratch that employed a lot of people which made their application more attractive (restaurant/bar with 30 employees). But they want you to be able to prove you have done it before and have a successful track record in that industry etc.

I'm pretty sure It's just an electronic version of a conversation that would have happened sitting at Dive Outpost stuffing my face full of deco cookies. This way I get the same experience without all the empty calories.

Empty calories? Cathy's Deco Cookies are a nutritionally complete food specifically designed for the unique dietary needs of cave divers. They have strong mood elevating effects, promote N2 offgassing, and are highly effective in the treatment of the dreaded chocolate deficiency syndrome hypotheobromemia.

That's pretty funny, almost as good as the time Tony Flaris and Jim McMichael convinced me that I had brain eating amoebas swimming inside my head due to my not using any ear beer!

Seeing as how we have already derailed the thread and we all seem to be having fun (that is the point of diving after all isn't it?) please feel free to add any similar cave diving related pranks that have been played on you.

Just keeping your thread at the top!

Oh, and Deco Cookies will cure brain-eating amoebas too. The oddly behaving half-witted tubers that frequent Ginnie on summer weekends? They didn't eat enough Deco Cookies.

What was this thread about anyway? ... Oh yea, Poseidon regulators. If you post a little clearer picture of the 1st stage, I can identify it for you.

Hopefully these are a bit clearer. I'm also going to my storage unit some point in the next week or so and will take pics of the rest of them. I appreciate the help, and the banter!
