I grew up in Southern California. Most of the population has no idea just how close to the edge the region is with regard to water. Generally the region is a desert, not a tropical oasis, yet everyone wants a lush lawn.

I hope the desalination solution is finally ready for prime time. In my opinion it is the ONLY viable long term answer to the problem. The hold up has always been the economics and the technology. Hopefully this signals a turning point.
