Default New tank benches Madison-need some help

Madison Blue Springs State park has offered to clear out all the old picnic benches in the parking area near the spring, and dedicate this area to the divers with tank benches. We have 4 new tank benches with a unique design that sidemounters will like. On Saturday AM,September 13th we will install these, but we need some help with installation. Can you come help, should be done in the morning and allow time for a dive, please PM me. We also need cordless drills, shovel, and posthole diggers too. Thanks from NFSA

Was just there today. If I had only known, I maybe could have waited a week.

Will at least some of the picnic tables be remaining? Personally I hate those tank bench things and don't use them- they are way too tall for short people like me.

While I support the idea of setting up diver-friendly benches I must agree that some of them are built too high. Also the bench is flat so I'm always worrying that if the structure shakes - tanks may fall and hurt some kid (and M1 has plenty of kids on that deck). If the flat part of bench could be slightly sloping in I think it may make tanks more stable preventing the sliding out. Or may be 2.5 leg , 3 leg or 4 leg "A" sides post design makes it more stable. I know some benches have an eye screw to secure but rarely anyone use it. Just a thought.

Any chance they would waive the scooter restriction in Madison for one day for properly licensed scooter divers? This would definitely make my decision to drive that far and volunteer my time easier.

Good news we got approval for these to be lower because we received the same feedback from people (you speak we listen). I think you will like the height. Also, the design is different, and something that sidemounters will enjoy as well.

Sorry, the decision about scootering comes from Tallahassee, and is nothing that could be changed that fast.

We do really need some help. It is something that will be finished early enough that would allow an opportunity to dive. This is our contribution to National Public Lands Day,but we are having to do this early because of another timetable.

I'm with Heather, picnic tables are great. Plenty surface area for gear, and they give you a clean place to get in your drysuit. Any reason the tables have to be removed?
