    Default Nitek Trio

I purchased a used Nitek Trio, and I have not been able to successfully change gases under water. I downloaded the manual from Dive Rite, and it says to press and hold the center mode button for 1-2 seconds, making the current mix flash, then press left select button until you get to your required gas and hold the mode button down again 1-2 secs. I tried that, and the whole display just flashed, and I could not do anything with it. Help!

The procudure you read in the manual works for my trio. I always check it by holding down the left button after the gas change. This will show your selected gas. Perhaps some one at Dive Rite could help.

On my Nitek (DUO) the left (Select) button is used for Gas Switching.
I have used the Trio and the Duo, they both work well, but I learned that on the Trio, if the battery gets low/old you can have some flakey behavior.

I had the same experience with my Duo three years ago. 1500 feet back in Cow the depth display started going from the correct depth to 20 feet and back very rapidly and the rapid ascent alarm started beeping. This lasted about 5 seconds and stopped. It was not showing a low battery alarm but the battery was kind of old. I put a new battery in it and it has worked fine since. I am now using it in gauge as a backup to my Petrel and making sure to keep fresh batteries in it.

Take it to Matt at Deep Six in Lakeland if a battery change doesn't help.

I have a trio, purchased it new, been using it cave diving for 7 yr. I have learned to change the battery every year if I don't want weird behavior from it.I still use it on every dive in guage mode.

It will act weird because of a low battery but you might want to go to the petrel if you can. I only use the trio can because of money constraints.
