This could all be prevented by one stroke of a pen in Tallahassee changing the building code to require better insulation, more energy efficient buildings and solar power, this would negate the need for more pipes and power plants. But we don't because the builders and power companies complain about their profits. This won't end until the entire state is one continuous strip mall from the Panhandle to the Keys and all powered by fossil fuels as the climate warms, until said fuel runs out and the pipe is abandoned to rust in place along with the rest of our crumbling "society".
