"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success."
Earnest Shackleton
So it's probably true that the major pollution is coming from upstream of the cave entrances, but it's a bit silly to think that a neighborhood built uphill from the edge of the Millpond couldn't be contributing to the pollution. If I had to guess, I'd say that most of the residents are on septic, but please correct me if you have better info. Outside of septic, people fertilizing their lawns and gardens also contribute to the pollution. That being said, I think they're probably not contributing at the same level as some point source pollution further up in the watershed by a couple orders of magnitude. The residential areas, [Sorenson] said, couldn’t be contributing to the problem; to do so, he said, the water that runs off from them would have to do the impossible; flow upstream.
I hope proposals don't end up raising taxes and whatnot for the locals. Most of all because Ed gets enough of my money already!
