This has been going on for a couple years. A Canadian billionaire wants to bring a 30 thousand acre organic cattle ranch, along with a slaughterhouse to Ocala near Silver Springs. The original water use permit called for them to pump an amount of water out of the ground each day equal to the amount the entire city of Ocala currently uses. While our springs are in decline and flows are down this probably isn't a good idea. A bunch of people got involved, including Senator Bob Graham, but the effort has not stopped. Here's the latest development and it's good news. This seriously effects the cave diving community and calls to elected officials might help.
