sent him an email. We will see...after playing with subsurface though (export format change resolved the depth weirdness), i feel like the profile info in macdive is useless, that is, non existent, and that's the whole point of my using a computer based logging software, to learn from my profile.

Heard back already. No current fix, perhaps will be added in the future. I got the impression from the email that the support person was unaware that sidemounted tanks are independent.

The only thing missing from MacDive is the deco ceilings. That is certainly a pity. I emailed Nick about this back in January and he definitely wants to consider it sometime in the future.
As to tracking the pressure in the sidemount tanks, why not just average it between both tanks?

right, the profile is just to look neat. not particularly useful.

as for tracking, i like to keep track of the differences. I don't know why a program i pay for can't log the same detail that my logbook does. it's more principle than utility.

The profiles in Macdive show what is important to me, I can see the exact depth changes in the cave. I'm not interested at all in the decompression ceiling, I can actually see that just by looking at my profile or can calculate it afterwards.
As to the tank pressures, those are interesting to calculate the SAC rate, but I see no good reason to track the left/right cylinder pressure instead of averaging it. Both tanks should be about the same after the dive anyway.
The statistics options in Macdive are absolutely awesome, especially when it comes to gear usage and maintenance.

Late post to this thread, but figured I'd add my .02 if it could help someone.
I use Shearwater Software package, I use it on a MAC, although they offer winblows version also. Once you download the log to the software over Bluetooth, after about 5 dives or so, I will click each dive and then hit print, once it comes up to the printer I will select PDF, vs the printer. then once I have the PDF saved, open the PDF file, and then I resize it, to 65-70% of the full page. When i print it out it will fit in my log book. I will print out about 5-8 dives, then use a 3 hole punch that is adjusted to fit my log book, and then punch the holes and it fits nicely into the log book.

this has been working well, another new thing I am doing to save space in the log book, is to print dives on both sides of the paper.

I use a manual journal but also use the Shearwater program. Is there a way to add dives to the SW program that were made prior to buying my Shearwater?

    Safe diving,

I use the program that Liquivision recommends. It has quite a few options and also a place to make notes which I need to be better about writing them. I have it on my desktop and laptop so short of them breaking down simultaneously I should be ok.
