I'm sure someone with arduino experience could do that part, if there's a suitable depth sensor available. I'd love to have an android device a dive computer. I think it's the future of dive computers. Let the manufactures worry about the quality of the algorithm and interface, and not the hardware.
What the hell are you talking about? You sure know how to make someone feel ignorant...you do notice no one acknowledged your response, right? They were afraid!

I meant a simple program to use as a log function.

Last I heard, logs caused major malfunctions with boats

I use a M$ Access database that I set up years ago. Most of my exploratory cave dives are published in the Cave Diving Group newsletter anyway but there has been a shift against reporting purely "tourist" cave diving in this hallowed publication. I regularly export the database as an Excel spreadsheet and also a PDF as back up so that I have options to read it. I also used to keep a handwritten diary of all my cave diving and caving activities which I used to update when I visited the laundrette but this stopped whien I bought a washing machine...

The database is useful to see how many dives I've done at each cave, how many dives I do each year etc.

    Now that was funny!

    And free as in beer.

It's getting more and more feature complete and used a standard format for saving dives (uddf).

Stick to the clay then... It's so much easier. And the advantage to your technique is that they will talk about you on the forums for years. It almost like being immortal... Or immoral... Or both.

I've been using SubSurface for a couple of years - very happy with it. It works with virtually all dive computers, allows you to add as much or as little data as you want and has tools which allow you analyse sections of dives, which can be useful for looking over multi-level cave profiles. Finally they're working on an integrated dive planner which looks like it's going to be really nice.
