They have discount cards for urinals? Man, that will save me tons of money!

it sure would be nice to have when traveling through Europe, Brazil, or many of the Asian countries I've been where you must actually pay to use a urinal, even when a customer of the location that is the owner of said urinal. I was in a department store in Amsterdam and we had to pay - I couldn't believe it. From department stores to gas stations to public urinals (those in AMS are free ironically,) carry some $/€ or one of Damien's discount cards to use it.

When I was in Germany years ago it was that way. IIRC, it was 50 pfennig for a toilet. Not much, but without it you were out of luck.

I remember pay toilets that cost a dime - haven't seen one in years. I'm with Greenwood_60; I'd rather pay for a clean restroom than have a filthy one for free.

Some of the Vermont state parks have pay showers that take quarters. They have cleverly timed them so that you have to spend at least 75 cents. One quarter will give you enough water to get wet and soap up. The second quarter will give you enough water to get almost rinsed off... Still worth the money, especially the few that have hot water.

It's not just a matter of paying, most facilities have human attendants (to keep things clean). In Germany and elsewhere, I think it's considered a 'normal' job. Not sure that'll fly in the States (outside of some clubs and related establishments).

Overseas I saw a sign for free bathrooms. No charge to do your business. That's when their business starts and they charge you by the square....

I miss the marks and pfennings. I still carry around a 10pf coin just for the heck of it.
