The SMS50 is a pretty bad SM rig. I honestly can say I can't recommend it. With an Old School bungee, and if you modify it into a one-piece harness, it can be fairly usable....it's just not worth the work. With 98s, you'll be SERIOUSLY lacking lift. I can't recommend it for anything other than AL80s in warm, salt water.....even with the mods. mbaker's Edd-mad might be your best cheap solution.

+1. I've seen the SMS 50 in the DR. Works fine for 80s. Looks like Mbaker's got a good deal 4 u . I would consider hunabku's JT as well. Haven't seen the other 2 rigs.

I agree with victor on the sms50 not being a smart option with steel tanks. I've seen our friend Amy use it with steel 50's and barely make it off the bottom. Go with a sms100 or an older nomad. I have one with edd mods I can let go for $250
