Unfortunately we're a 'Crisis Oriented Society'.......Nothing will be done until that point and even then it'll just be a temporary band aid......Remember the oil embargo of the '70's ????........We haven't learned from that !!!!!!....And if a solution conflicts w/the self-serving interests of a special interest group ( like the oil co's who buy up and shelve patents ) guess who's going to pay ??!!........

That doesn't mean we can't speak out and work to correct the problem, using whatever talents/means we have. In John Moran's case, it is his wonderful photographer's eye.

You are correct. We can put the information in print, and ship it to legislators, but photography has a different impact. I attended an event sponsored by the Springs Institute, and some the regional stories with impact were terrible, but the grass roots efforts were positive. I came away with a book that featured some of John Moran's springs photos- then and now,and it is quite revealing. These books were intended for local government and legislators, but I dropped off one at each dive shop to be exhibited. As cave divers we have to understand that the primary media we use to enjoy our sport is under threat. A comment that I have heard on several occassions," there will always be caves, they just may not be divable in the future". We already have several springs we enjoy reaching very high nitrate loading levels, when it reaches a dangerous level, plan on it being closed to us.

Great video and saddening. In the 2 years I've been travelling to Florida (3 trips) I have definitely felt the degradation
