    Default Update peacock

I spoke with Linda yesterday and she said that the water in Peacock had started to boil. In her opinion Peacock could open as early as 2 weeks.
Lets pray that this will happen. Last year Bill lost about 6 months of income due to the flooding.
Dive Outpost and Cave Excursion as well as all the other dive shops that cater to us cave divers don't need another spring like last year.

I'm sure they'll be fine. Bill, Cathy and many of the other shops have been in the business long enough to know that a few weeks of down time is expected due to flooding in the spring. Sure there have been years when it didn't happen. But those years are the exception, not the rule.

You are right, but 2013 was a record year for number and length of floods.

It's all Al Gore's fault. If he had not invented the internet this Global Warming/Climate Change thingy never would have happened.

As EARLY as 2 weeks? Oh boy, I guess I picked the worst time of the year for coming here. I dont wanna hijack this thread, but does that mean Little River will also be down for another few weeks? I have to fly out on the 12th and was hoping to do some diving in the High Springs area. (I know that Ginnie and Manatee are open).

Lol, thanks. Maybe next time I'll try to figure out stuff like this before actually booking the flight.

@bent, this time of year...you are at the mercy of mother nature. Even last year in August it was a challenge (Peacock reopened midway thru my trip)

Yup, that's how we know that they're real caves and not artificial ones operated as tourist attractions by Disney!

If I lived far, far away I would only schedule springtime trips to Merritt's Millpond.
