    Default Training question

Ok so I am new to the cavern/cave community and have every intention on getting full cave certified. But I want to get my ccr cert and want to do ccr full cave so my question is would it be better to do the ccr course first or do full cave then ccr seems to me doing ccr first makes more sense then doing it twice. Since I would have to do ccr full cave after.

So this summer myself and my girlfriend are doing one of the two trainings but what's your opinion on which to do first.

    Thanks for the input.

If you are planning on using a CCR for your diving then take the CCR course first.

I would think you would want time on your CCR prior to taking it into a cave. So I would get CCR trained and sit there for awhile diving in OW, if that's your primary objective (to dive CCR in a cave).

Just my opinion. It's worth the electrons used to write it.

No I defiantly will log many hours before doing the ccr cave I am just trying to figure out to spend my money to dive OC in caves and then do ccr then I can still dive cave while logging OW time on ccr before doing cave or commit my time to ccr first then move to cave.

When diving a CCR is is a point of view that diving OC will hinder the building of proper muscle memory, at least when you first go CCR. I would suggest going CCR and diving that exclusively for awhile prior to cave training. I seem to remember having to have a minimum of 50 hours on CCR before i could take the CCR Cave course.

I think 50hours is pretty low for what could take place when task loaded.

So learning the muscle memory of cave diving would make the ccr cave course that much more present. One less thing to have to concentrate on. Po2 set points and all.

Not sure I see a downside to OC cave first then ccr cave...and a ccr course can come before or after the OC cave class. Whats the worst case? You get to do some cave diving and some open water ccr diving? Build skills. Granted, not all skills cross both boundaries.

You will concurrently build skills in both areas rather than one or the other.

    2 cents

Been full cave since 97 and just finished my ccr course...not that I'm saying wait 17 years...
