FS: 5 Farallon scooters

They are in various condition but they don't run I think. One should just need a cleaning and batteries. I know nothing about Farallon scooters and they have been taking up space.

Makes a great project for someone.

Asking $250 each or $1k for the pallet of all 5 them.

Local pickup only near Wakulla or arrange for delivery to anywhere in cave country.

Just curious, how much does one of those weigh? I am interested in trying to ressurect one for salt water use.

I have no idea. I could weigh them for you but they don't have batteries in them. The cave divers of the past may chime in with info but those are not light weight. I'm betting with batteries 80lbs.

Weigh one, then add about 14 pounds per battery. You will be pretty close.

I had two of them: 1 MK-II and 1 MK-III. I bought them for 700$ each years ago in non working condition. The shaft seal is easy to find (water pump seal). The shaft itself is easy to refabricate if need be (I had to make a new one). They weighted about 55 pounds and with sealed lead acid batteries, they were approx 6 pound negative in fresh water. However, they were really not balanced (trimmed). This being said, I had a lot of fun with them but they were hard to operate with a single handle.

Two years ago, I sold my MK-II in fully working condition for 700$ and I bought a Ping LiFePo4 battery. I get more capacity (720W) and lower weight. I rebuilt my MK-III with a new battery tray, new bulkhead, 4QD PWM controller, a new aluminum nose and new paint. It is now perfectly trimmed and it is 0.08 pounds negative (neutral).

Forgot to mention. For somebody that likes to renovate things, $250 if quite cheap for the fun this project may provide. The upgrade cost would be around: $30 for aluminum, $80 for the speed controller, $700 for the battery, $20 for the shaft seal + screws, sealant, grease, wiring, connectors, etc. (approx $1000+scooter)

They are still for sale, as is. I am not willing to ship though. They are heavy and not worth the time to box up. Local pickup in Wakulla only.

One unit is away at camp, someone was going to try and make it work. They have all the spares. If someone is interested I will need to arrange to have that unit returned to me.
