    Default 2014 NSS-CDS Midwest Workshop

    Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I'm happy to present to you the basic details about the 2014 NSS-CDS Midwest Workshop in St. Louis, MO.

    Who:
    Workshop Chairman: Steve Mann
    Workshop Co-Chairman: Bill Harrison

    When:
    Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, Evening Social at CJ Muggs (typically after dives at Roubidoux Spring, Waynesville, MO)
    Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, 8 am-4 pm Meeting
    Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 (typically divers split up to dive Cannonball Blue Spring in Poplar Bluff, Roubidoux Spring in Waynesville, or Mine LaMotte near Farmington

    Where:
    CJ Muggs, 101 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, MO 63119

    What:
    The agenda has not yet been defined. I will be responsible for getting people excited about the workshop and defining the best possible agenda together.

    I'm very open to suggestions about content, theme, speakers, sponsors, and so on. I will setup a program to ensure we have deadlines about these items.

    For now, we'd like to fill some slots:
    Sponsor chair - will be responsible to help find sponsors for door prizes, gifts, donations, and so on;
    Theme & Agenda Chair - will assist with defining the agenda/theme and arranging speakers;
    Logistics Chair - while the primary forum for the agenda has been identified, there are many, many logistics items to be worked out such as hotels, diving, chairs, rooms, A/V, getting CDS items there to sell, etc;
    Promotion - I won't rest until every CDS member all around the globe knows about this event and is afforded every opportunity to get there or maybe we can arrange WiFi/VidCon participation for those who absolutely can't make it (with some limits.)

    Requirements to assist - you must have an interest in seeing this workshop be successful and be an NSS-CDS member in good standing. You don't necessarily have to plan to attend yourself, though it would be great if you were planning to. You also don't have to live there in the St. Louis area.

    I will also be glad to take suggestions about the event here on this thread.

    Call or write with ideas any time.

    I'm looking forward to a great workshop!

    Every year I hope to make this relatively nearby event (I'm in West Michigan) and every year I am booked elsewhere! Typically I have a wedding on the calendar (I've done as many as 37 in a year). This year I hope to be in Scotland. Anyone here dive Scapa Flow?

    Steve
    I can present about the Fauna Counts I can help with Logistics as I have been driving to Roubidloux and Cannonball a few years. The main issue is these caves conditions change very rapidly so we don't really what we will be diving till a week before. We have been very lucky the last 3 years with both Springs have been divable.

    Welcome to the team MichaelAngelo. This event is already shaping up to be one of our best. MichaelAngelo is taking the logistics chair slot - thanks!

    Just an FYI, I've seen those caves change in less than a 24 hour period. It is a chore getting in roubidoux when the flow is boiling 10 inches above the water line. Especially in a optima with 108's and three deco bottles. Biggest cave a$$ whipping I've ever had but a heck of a good time!!!
