    Default TDI Full Cave???

Can anyone tell me exactly what are the limits for TDI's Cave classes up to full cave are?

normally i compare certification limits to the NSS classes
    http://www.nsscds.org/trainingprograms

i was wondering as i cant find to much on it and from looking up info on the forms and people i get conflicting info like limits are 1/3s, no-deco, and 40m max depth, unlimited jumps. and others that say the its a deco class rated to what ever depth your tech rated to :/

im trying to figure out whats what as one of the instructors im looking at taking cave with in a while teaches TDI

it seems they only do intro to cave and full cave as 2 separate classes which feels like there going to cram in alot of stuff if its equivalent to the NSS

TDI Intro is the same as NSS-CDS Intro but allows 40m max depth instead of 30m.
TDI Full combines NSS-CDS Apprentice and Full, with the same number of days and dives (8), and the same graduation limits.
NACD is another option, more like NSS-CDS than TDI in having three levels. But the NACD Apprentice (middle) level is only good for a year....it is an expiring, training level to allow you to practice for a year before doing Full.
Do any of them all the way through and you get the same thing and same limits. Stop part way and there are differences.
It is about the instructor, not the agency.

I'm taking TDI cave with DiveAddicts in April. My hope is that I will be able to do the 8day course in one shot but finding a babysitter for my kids while my wife is working is proving challenging... Something about my wife saying that she is unwilling to use paid time off of work for "my vacation.."
Either way I plan to at least take intro with a hope to complete the entire course.

I realize that nobody asked for my opinion, but I don't know of anybody that thinks this is a good idea.

Does this mean that it's a bad idea to start with TDI (or any agency) if you plan on switching instructors/agencies for the rest of the training?

My opinion is that you will find that most cave divers with a bit of experience will suggest the opposite. It does not matter which agency you are taking your training through or what their limits are. The important thing is to pause and take some time to build skills and gain experience. 10 meters of penetration or depth are not what is important, it is the experience and knowledge you gain along the way to know what you don't know that is important.

I have never asked anyone what agency they were trained with. I have asked at what level of training they have completed however that has the least amount of influence on the dive plan. What really counts when I dive with someone is seeing them in the water, getting a feel of how well they know what they are doing, and if they can identify when they are planning or doing something that is beyond their limits or experience.

Interesting that you don't know anyone that thinks that is a good idea. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you since I do that on a case by case basis with my students.

But TDI is one of the first to allow a CCR Cave course to be separated into multiple courses. With for example IANTD on CCR your only option is zero to hero. So I would say there are a lot of people who think not only is it a good idea but to them it is the only way.

I personally agree with the way TDI has it set up. They can do just cavern, cavern and intro or cavern intro and full cave.

This allows the instructor to structure the course in a way that best fits the student.
