Butler Trench Origin?

I posted this query in another thread but I think it may be buried over there. There is an artifact in the cave floor in JB known as the Butler Trench. I've heard vague stories about it over the years, but I'm curious - does anyone know the real story? It's quite large and looks like something happened that kicked up a lot of silt. No names please, that isn't my intent. I just would like to hear the story. Thanks...

This happened more than 10 years ago, causd by someone I consider a friend. Their scooter stuck on, if memory serves it was a mako that did not have the left trigger disabled. Not much of a story to tell, but it is a good reminder that any marks we make are there forever.

Thanks Kevin. So was it a standard operating procedure at the time and even today to disable the left trigger?

Now if we can just get the scoop on how Cow got it's name as well as "Not my Fault." Wes talks about it but I never read anything stating as to either got their names.

It was in some circles, but obviously not all. I would consider it SOP to disable the left trigger.

Two triggers don't add any real value. The second trigger adds failure points. What I've seen happen is the left trigger is unused, but pinned. The trigger housing and magnet housing gather silt, this goes unnoticed because the trigger is not used. The trigger override "flag" gets bumped and scooter sticks on. Now you have twice as many places to deal with to fix the problem.
