I would LOVE to get in on some these dives y'all are teasing with here! I can't explain it, but there's just something about seeing things that should be on dry land while I'm on SCUBA that gets me all worked up! And pink fins make AWESOME underwater video....just saying

For mines and shipwrecks, contact Tamara Thompson at Diversions Scuba in Madison, WI: http://www.diversions-scuba.com/index.html
She dives in flooded mines all the time. She's also very knowledgeable about shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. John Janzen dives with her and has professional underwater video and still equipment for filming in caves and Great Lakes shipwrecks.

You should include the Kamloops (wrecked in 1927 at Isle Royale in Lake Superior) in any discussion about shipwrecks. It's one of the most incredible shipwrecks in existence--a package freighter with all the cargo still aboard.

The underground/water Lockheed site in Dawson County GA should be on the list.

If anyone ever dives that place, they should definitely take a camera!

LOL that is exactly where my head went! You can get in touch directly with Bill at bill@jocasseediveshop.com. Reasons you may be interested in Lake Jocassee:
-- Was a valley that was intentionally flooded - has some really neat features including "forests" you can swim through
-- Remember the graveyard scene from the movie Deliverance? You can dive THAT graveyard, which still has the empty gravesites (the actual caskets were moved before the valley was flooded) from Bill's boat.
-- There is also a Lodge and a Girl Scout (?) camp at around 300 feet that are pretty amazing from what I have heard. Again, Bill would be the go-to guy, but obviously those are very advanced dives and are not frequented.

    Definitely worth a look!

There are more cars & shipwrecks on the bottom of the great lakes then there are cars on the roads today ! ck it out !
There is also a 3 masted schooner laying in 180' of water off of Two Harbors, Wisconsen ! Intact !
Isle Royale hosts a number of great divable wrecks, including the America, the Emporer & the George M Cox.

Lake Russell, has a few different structures underwater..... The GA-Carolina Memorial Bridge, Pearle Mill, etc...... Not sure the visibility would allow much filming, unless the timing was absolutely perfect. The last time I dove the GA-Carolina Memorial Bridge, viz was only about 10ft @ 60' (the road bed)......

I would throw in a second vote for Bill Routh up at Lake Jocassee, the video of the lodge is pretty bad ass, and from what I understand, the movie "Deliverance" has some shots of the dam being built and the footage of the church being moved was supposedly filmed in that valley as well.

One day they let the navy practice on it and they dropped a bomb on the ship by accident. Because of this she is not sanitized. Hopefully one day I can find a ride out to it.
I keep a little dive boat at the NSA Panama City. Never heard of the Ozark, assume it is way off the coast as 240' is pretty deep for the gulf?
