Northdiver: If the manifold is a 7/8UNF as the OP has stated then it will not work on your 72's In over 40 years in the industry, I have never seen a 72 with a neck size other than 3/4 . Measure your neck size before committing.

You're right about the 1/2 inch taper size. I had one of those that I used for a deco bottle several decades ago. I did not mention that because a lot of today's divers don't know that this size even existed. You're telling your age!

Thanks Brent for the heads up, I am sure the threads are not 3/4, but not sure of tank size, probably 100 I guess. us diver tank pst made galvanized e9791-3500 tp5250. Can these valves be plugged and set up on single tanks? Thanks for the info

The PST "Genesis tanks" from the late 80's-90's time frame are all 7/8 UNF neck size and if you have a 100CF tank, it makes for a pretty good side mount tank, in my opinion. Most of the manifolds for these tanks have the capability to be plugged and used as two single valves. If you come across a manifold that is not able to be plugged, then not to worry, because you can still buy K-valves in the 7/8UNF thread. They're very common actually.

There's a guy on SB who just listed what looks like 2 PST HP 7/8 neck tanks. So if someone still wants to backmount big doubles, this is a great way.
