Caves in Wakulla are clearing with many at optimal conditions.
Indian Viz is now 100'+ in all directions. Basin is very clear as noted in the attached pictures.
The Leon Line is clearing with viz in the 80' range. Some of the sinks still have tannic waters but clear once into the main passage.
Church Sink is crystal as of now. We are planning on line replacement and repair over the next few weeks to include a resurvey and new map. While shooting video yesterday, I found what I believe to be the source tunnel for that system. After entering a small pit in the floor, I quickly hit a depth of 95'. Viz was crystal clear and temp difference was 6 degrees above the main passage. Geology changed from the soft dissolved limestone layers as found in the main passages to a more dense bright white stone. Less breakdown and little percolation. Bottom is mostly clay with 2-3 inches of soft layer on the surface. After depleting the only primary reel (400'), I had I settled for calling it a day. Exploration of this new passage will continue over the next few months.
We should have the video up soon on the Cave Connections you tube account.
We are working towards video in all the systems here now that we have a deep housing for the camera and a custom platform for it with lighting that does the caves here justice. Anyone wishing to help with shoots is more than welcome to come out and do so.
