Default Smile Amazon & Donating to help the Springs!

I just learned that Amazon has a sister site called smile.amazon.com. This site has the same merchandise as on Amazon and .5% of each eligible purchase is donated to a charity of one's choice. Although there are almost 1 million charities to choose from, several stand out, particularly the North Florida Springs Alliance, the National Association for Cave Diving, Inc., and the Cave Diving Section of the National Speleological Association, Inc. (NSS-CDS). Instead of purchasing something on Amazon, purchase it instead on the new site and help out the charity of your choice for no extra cost.

Same for searching the net: goodsearch.com instead of google or yahoo or bing (goodsearch is powered by yahoo.)
Goodhop.com-choose your charity, then the store or item, find the coupon code you want, and walllllllah, you buy some goods, services, travel, etc and the charity gets a donation.

This is a great program, and thanks for posting. "Donating to help the springs",really could be directed toward one of many organizations that really help the water shed. Where I greatly appreciate the work of the organizations mentioned, and support them myself, the spring shed is in a terrible state of health. I attended a workshop sponsored by the Florida Springs Institute yesterday, that had representatives from over 20 organizations, and the one thing that resonated is the springs we depend on for recreation are dying. Where we are excited that springs are flowing right now, this is a short term benefit from rainfall, but there is nothing to sustain it,so we will see a return to prior level sometime soon. I was also very disappointed to hear that a very popular spring visited by many, has shown a tremendous spike in nitrates recently (I don't mention the name because the owner hasn't done so). Look at the Florida Springs Insititute web site, and if they are worthy of your $$$,please give them consideration.

The full name of this charity is the Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute, Inc., and will have to be entered as such when choosing this charity on the smile.amazon.com website. Thank you Kelly; this was one I was not aware of.

If people haven't seen the Springs Eternal exhibit at Florida Museum of Natural History, you are missing something, and if you want to,better hurry,it is only on display for 5 weeks more. http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/exhibits/li...ountain-youth/
I received a book yesterday with some of the pictures. It has pictures of the springs a number of years ago and now,it is very sad what you will see.
