Default Blue Grotto Scuba Diving Special Event

    November 16 at 8:00am until November 17 at 4:30pm

In honor of my first day working for Blue Grotto Dive Resort, Williston Florida, and my birthday, Kurt has granted me permission to extend a special deal to anybody who comes to dive at the Spring on either or both, Sat. Nov. 16th, and/or Sun. Nov. 17th.

All you have to do to receive 25% off the dive fee, is request the "SantaFeSandy Group Special".

As your own private "tender", I'll be there to assist you, and your group, with all your needs. While many of you live out of state, or in other countries, and many are not even divers, I'm sure that if you spread the word, you'll be amazed at how many divers your "friends of friends" have. Word of mouth is the best advertising.

Hope to see & photograph some of you there!!! Call to reserve a pavilion for your group, at (352) 528-5770. Thanks y'all.

By the way, the new construction of this "state of the art" facility, now being equipped to accommodate handicap divers, is most impressive. Come and see for yourself. I'll continue to post photos in my Blue Grotto Above Ground set on www.flickr.com/santafesandy/sets.

I was hoping when I read this that the cave on site was now open. Any way to help us out getting access?

Over the weekend I heard the site was under new ownership... can you confirm this?

I've taught a few RB classes there since the new owners took over and I can say that this new owner and staff are VERY friendly and helpful and they are building all kinds of structures. It looks like this will be a one stop training location for some groups that travel long distances and need support and lodging. It has a way to go before it's done, but the attitude change alone has made a nice difference. Good luck to them!

That is great, and sounds like a major change. Giselle and I had sworn off ever diving there again.

Don't think it's worth the $40 they charge - at least it wasn't when I was last there several years ago.

H2Ocaver, you are absolutely correct in all that you think and say. Kurt Huber is a part owner and the only manager on site. His son is Sandro, who will be in and out from Switzerland to assist. He still assists with online issues.

Meanwhile, the site, which I visit and dive frequently, is undergoing tremendous changes for the better. There is a very friendly vibe there now, which is very welcoming to all levels of divers. Kurt is honestly a "real person", and I say this as one who lives five miles from Blue Grotto, and who has agreed to enter their venture in developing this dive site. I would not waste my time on FAKE people. I have no use for such mentalities. I am willing to remove myself from a higher paying position on the weekends, to work part-time for Blue Grotto, because I love diving, and see a great future for this newly developing "state of the art" facility.

As a former professional Thoroughbred Jockey who had a "near death" experience, with a broken neck, back, tibia, shattered ankle, ligaments, muscles, paralysis, etc., to see the development of their new ramps for "handicap" divers, I am elated. I want to join them to help others partake of the glories of the underwater world.

All that said, what I do see and have experienced, is a win win for all those who choose to attach to this "rising star".

Please frequent my photography websites, for verification of what I claim. Let a picture speak a thousand words, as mine will.

Yes Greenwood_60, the site is under new ownership, which consists of a partnership. Kurt Huber is a part owner, and the site manager. You will be astounded at the new changes being implemented, and as a diver myself, when paying $30. to dive at Ginnie, I love having all the facilities available to me that Ginnie Springs offers. So, to see that Blue Grotto is going to "one up" that, I'm thrilled. As for the $40. dive fee, if you're a local diver, part of a group, an instructor, mention MY NAME, etc., Kurt is VERY GENEROUS (and honestly so) and will give you a break! Just be real and speak. Come, come and dive and know that this really is a cool site to spend your time at.

One only needs to give the construction time to happen, as Rome wasn't built in a day!!
