How can we get all the information on the date, place, and time of the meeting?
Jug and Manatee both are beautiful caves and when we are diving there special rules apply.
Truck loaded night before we roll out stupid early plan to get there an hr before open.
Of coarse we set coffee maker and have breakfast on the hood as we wait.
It reminds me of duck hunting or fishing when you are on the water before the sun awakens.

I am convienced that the best days to cave dive is during the week. Weekends and holidaysseem to be a mess. Fridays have gotten as bad as the weekend. Seems Thursday is the slowest time for diving , other than Gennie which is always busy.

I know Blue Springs isn't really a cave destination... but... their rules are 40 divers max. Now.. you can still enter the park and wait it out, watching for exiting divers leaving the parking lot, follow them up and get their spot. It's odd more parks don't do this.
On the flip side, it gets annoying when large classes go in these sites, do their training dives, then sit around and swim, and BBQ the rest of the day.... while not checking back out as a diver and freeing up those spots for people that want it.
On Sunday the 15th myself and two other instructors had a group of 16 students at Manatee to conduct a rescue class. We were not the only group, a dive shop from Alachua had a number of boy scouts earning their scuba merit badge, and a shop from Crystal River had another set of students. We were lined up outside of the front gate beginning at 7:30 in the morning to get in there. There was already a long line in front of the entrance when we got there, and I was actually worried we would be turned away even though we were conducting the course for a state agency.
So you can blame me and my group of 19...
The carrying capacity of a system is not determined by idiots. It's an important part of conservation. Cave divers need to be aware that unlimited access is not desirable, and whether you are cave diver, diver, student diver, or tuber, the numbers count. Let's support the concept of carrying capacity and learn to live peaceably with it. Our caves, our springs, our lives, will be better off for it.

I agree, Skip. While I'd love to see it go back to two numbers (I recall when Manatee had a carrying capacity for cave divers separate from the OW divers capacity), I'm still glad to see both access and protection co-exist.

Shirley you're not serious? No, I'm not, but do stop calling me Shirley.
A group of thirty-five open water divers (or whatever the number is) show up at 8am and do their two dives. They leave the park at noon. Two cave divers then show up and want to make a cave dive. "Sorry, the park is full."
