He's going to dive with me right after I turn 18.

Actually there is flow, but compared to the flow at Ginnie or Little River I found it to be moderate at best.
We did pull ourselves from the deco room into the main cavern, although it wasn't really necessary. The horseshoe circuit was almost without flow, the Young siphon was siphoning just a bit, parallel lines was flow-free. Flow between the 1st and 2nd breakdown was not that strong at all.
There were several cave classes going on where people seemed to do fine laying line and doing drills.
So in effect I would say as of today conditions are very good, as is the visibility, which is fine as usual.
Most people have not been taught how to avoid flow by simply reading the cave.

The flow must've gone down, as there was no easy way in when I was there. Either that, or it's just a difference in experience. I've never been to Ginnie, so it's not like I have high flow caves to compare it to. My other caves have been Twin Cave and Hole in the Wall. It was just MUCH higher than it has been in the past....and that was confirmed by multiple instructors independently.

SuprBugman: I'm a fluid dynamicist, so flow patterns come very naturally to me. Taught or not, I'm at least mildly competent at it.

You certainly are correct, it was much higher than I've experienced it on previous trips to JB. Hole in the Wall also has some flow in the entrance area now, although not so much in the big passages below. Twin has very little flow at the moment.

Applying fluid dynamics to your diving may require a bit more than the texts you learned on in school... they are no substitute for mentorship and/or experience.

I also wonder how many instructors out there were instructing 5-6 years ago when the current high flow was simply, normal flow... then again, memories are short anyway, especially after the pampering we've had at JB over the last several years.

    Victor,
You owe yourself a dive in LR and Ginnie. I don't know why, but I really like LR, more so then even Ginnie. I feel sure it's because all you have to do is show up and dive. The less the Bureaucracy, the more I like things.

I think the flow has subsided in JB due possibly to the level of the Mill Pond, which is high. I don't understand how the level of the Mill Pond could raise as it's controlled by a Dam that seems to be always closed. I assume the flow out of JB is so high it has simply over whelmed the spillway?
The level of the Mill Pond is / was a little over the wall where the ladder is.

Oh and William, 18 or not I'm still diving in an overhead whenever you do. It's not up to either of us, it's your Mother you have to convince. Remember she said quite a long time ago that your not allowed in a cave, for any reason, so I wouldn't bring it up if I were you. It's best to not tug on Superman's cape.

Yeah, and I'm not going to try to convince her.

Yeah, I'll be headed down that way soon enough...I just need a reason to go over there instead of Marianna. I might have found one, so we'll see.
