Default One to Two ton rock blocking Challenge Sink

NFSA divers today found a one to two ton rock has shifted/fallen into Challenge sink today 9/14/2013.

The divers report that backmounted divers cannot pass that rock, Sidemount divers may be able to pass it. Clearly the rock may not be stable since it fell in the past few days.

Divers should not plan to conduct dives that include Challenge Sink as an exit point. It also seems that running the mile long traverse will not be possible right now.

    We will keep you posted...

Is there any method of placing this information at Orange Grove and P1? Some divers might not read the forums.

Don---Yes we are figuring this out. The information is only a few hours old.

And being on the rebreather will probably not make much difference.

Does that mean the grand traverse is blocked?

Sounds like most rebreathers don't have a chance of making it through...SM rocks

I am missing something. Is the passage blocked from Orange Grove to P1 or is it just that Challenge Sink is blocked as an exit?

Whoa, good information. If its truly blocking the traverse, I predict an increase in side mount training. In fact, I bet the major training agencies and dive gear manufacturers did this just to increase sales of SM classes and SM gear! lets get our pitchforks, scuba swords, and torches and get 'em!

(kidding of course) safe dives to those of you who will be checking out this particular situation.
