Default Madison Blue open as of 8/5/13

The park manager at Madison Blue has opened the spring to cave diving as of today. They have not opened it to swimming due to high water levels.

Also note,if you enter at Martz the surface water will not be clear, but approx 5-10ft down it will clear.

Should the Madison mantra be changed? "First to go, first to come back?"

In the 20 years I have been cave diving I have never seen anything like this. Madison is a magnitude 1 spring, and even in the mid90's when it was flowing strong before the protracted drought we have had,Madison would blow out when the Withlacoochee would elevate. The Water level is at the platform,in fact when you step on the platform water will seep between the boards, but the tannic water of the Withlacoochee is being kept away from the basin. The aquifer must be well charged right now,but this is clearly evident when you feel the flow. This a unique dive experience, and even the seasoned Madison veterans are in for something different.
