While I'm not a free diver, to me, that just sounds absolutely crazy! I personally find myself very cautious and all but paranoid in just caverns. Not a risk I would even be willing to contemplate.
Please forgive me if this sounds callous given the circumstances. This is still a tragedy.

hey guys i just joined here to find out more about cave diving and i was very close friends with jason yeh.. He was going to attend UCF as a mechanical engineer and was one of the most honest, good natured people you will meet introducing many of his friends to free diving and he was good at it, unfortunately he always pushed the limits of his body as he did that day. He reportedly told his girlfriend he could free dive 80 feet. He used to go to blue springs frequently and swim all the way down to the famous warning sign that said not to swim any further which looked pretty deep on the videos he had. I will always have so many questions ill never know the answer to. I don't know if i could ever free diveafter this
we are starting a collection for him at his work and i was wondering if there is a Free Diving safety class or organization we could possibly donate to.
These guys offer freediving education as an organization. I do not know however if there's any one structured as a non-profit that would benefit from donations. Maybe someone on the spearfishing board would know.

There seems to be two access points to the Silver Glen Cave system, & from the above video of the MCSO divers it looks like Mr. Yeh was skin diving in an area restricted to swimmers & divers.
This is in my opinion the one access boil that truly defines what Silver Glen is about, & is crystal clear with a debree mound about 25' down, before going in both upstream & downstream passageways. I've spent numerous enjoyable afternoons free diving in Silver Glen & know enough not to push the rules on restricted access areas. I've seen some amazing video & photos taken from inside the cave system by Florida Geologists & it remains to be one of the most beautiful caves in Florida with outstanding Troglibytes roaming the sandy floors & tunnels. This is a sad accident & I share in the Yeh's family sympathy of their son's loss.
