It ain't just him, actually I tend to agree with most of what he says, but jeez it's not really that important is it? I mean if you chose to drag your tanks behind you, well then that's OK too isn't it?

Lets not forget independent doubles, I hear people still dive them somewhere. I think we will be having this argument for the next 10 yrs. both styles of diving are tools use them appropriately and enjoy the dive.

At the end of the day who give a #### how you dive as long as you enjoy yourself.

I have to agree. I used to dive independent doubles. Wasn't able to reach the isolator valve anyway. Now I dive SM mostly because I fell in doubles a few times. I think every one has a reason for what ever way they dive. As long as its safe and your having fun ....,,, Just my opinion.

We get it, Phillip. You don't dive backmount. But you have pointed out numerous times you have health issues that preclude the use of backmount.

I do as Kelly does - I use whichever configuration works best for the situation. But maybe one day I'll stop taking care of my body and blow out a knee or something, and will be left with sidemount as the only option.

don't get me wrong i used to dive BM a lot in fact exclusively then I discovered SM and never looked back.

from what I gather in some previous posts some of you talk about BM as something you have to learn if you want to really cave dive, like it is the basis of cave diving, that is just total BS that if you are never going to dive BM why get trained in BM? why not just go SM, same goes for someone who will only dive BM why should they train or know anything about SM? just a waste of time and money really.
yes knowing both is obviously more knowledge and ultimately could be argued as "better" but now days there are roughly the same amount of BM as SM so why not forgoe the configuration you will neve use and get trained in what you will use and it really looks like SM is the most popular choice, saying that is peer pressure is also BS IMO, just an educated choice.

And Sludge really You use SM as a tool? when? from all your posts you always say you never go into a restriction so when is SM a tool for you? when your knees or your back hurt?
