Default Meeting House Push July 5-7

The ASA http://aquaticscienceassociation.org/ will be conducting a push dive in Meeting House Cave system on the Ferrell property in Crawfordville Wakulla County Florida on July 5-7.

Information on joining the ASA: http://aquaticscienceassociation.org/Membership.html

All current Cave Diving Team Members and those wishing to join the team are invited and encouraged to attend. To join the ASA Cave Diving Team fill out this application: http://aquaticscienceassociation.org...ts/DiveApp.pdf and email it to: Cavedivingteam@aquaticscienceassociation.org

Push dives will be in depths greater than 250' with anticipation of going to 300' plus. All levels of divers are encouraged to attend. The rules are simple, dive what you are trained and competent to dive and be an ASA member. Yes, it you are trained and experienced in deep overhead this is your chance to put line in virgin cave! If you want to come help with setup dives and support the deep push divers we encourage that as well. Closed or Open Circuit...your choice. Please note that the deep areas are through a restriction, this restriction has been negotiated with LP85's in backmount. However, Sidemount is the preferred method.

Prelim and setup dives will begin Friday July 5, 2013. Cave Connections http://caveconnectionsflorida.com/index.html will be the meeting point for all dive operations. We will be meeting at Cave Connections at noon / 12pm on Friday. All operations for Sat and Sun will start at 9am meeting at Cave Connections. If you are unable to make those exact times, no problem, shoot me an email, text, or call.

If you have any questions feel free to email: Cavedivingteam@aquaticscienceassociation.org or send me a message here on the forum.

    Text or call: 239-572-1025

It may be helpful to describe the system for others. I recently made a dive with Steve Cushman. Meeting House is an offset collapsed sinkhole with an immediate, huge room (hence the name) with a very large surface window letting in light. At the platform where divers enter the sink, there is a vertical drop-off to 60-ish FFW. The bottom gradually trends down to a depth of about 153 FFW before the “duck-under.” From there, the running cave entrances can be accessed. Visibility, at the time of my dive, was 60+ feet in the main room. Surface light was lost at about 105 FFW.

Offering to assist ASA may present an opportunity to see a truly unique system.

Wahoo! Virgin cave in Florida, that's pretty awesome.

Best of luck folks, wish I lived closer so I could help out. Can't wait to hear the results.

Tons of virgin cave in Florida...

Conditions can be good to very good at meetinghouse right now, great time to dive there. Last I was there, ambient light was visible at 130+'
