I am to understand there is a football sized dome beyond the cavern zone, which is obviously closed off.. Has anyone ever been beyond the cavern to confirm this ?
It would be interesting to find out more about it.

I saw a space on the other side of one of the grates that was at least the size of beach ball....

I helped do a recovery there around 1987 or so and believe me, there was NO large areas beyond the cavern zone that I saw. I also got to know the owners at that time ( Bruic family ) pretty well. The son, Mike, got certified as a cave diver and was always poking around off the beaten path but never a mention of anything big. So maybe there's a "well kept" secret waiting to be found again? Don't hold your breath!

You might be referring to the other side of Blue Grotto.
The last time I was at Devil's Den there was a grim reaper sign in front of a passage that looked like it went back pretty far. There was no grate stopping access so anyone could have swam back there
An old friend of mine told me they used to repell down thru the top hole and it was quite extensive. [Before the entrance was cut out]. He also said right around Challenge, is a spot that you can actually get out of the water at underground. He's since gotten out of diving.
There's an arena size room mid-way through the devil's den to blue grotto traverse. If you pay attention, there's a jump off the northern corner of the room that will eventually take you to the deep section in Jackson Blue.
My understanding is the cave is not very long, very silty, and has archaeological significance. The Williston area has a few other cavern dives that are supposed to be beautiful... if you can get access.
