Has anyone dived Lafayette Blue since the floods? The vis in the head spring and Snake(?) sink looked pretty darn good from the surface. The vis at Kitty and Trap sinks looked much worse, but the duckweed has been washed away.

This is from the NFSA newsletter from yesterday:
Peacock is open for diving and continuing to clear. Madison is now
open for diving and is also clearing more each day. Conditions at
Troy spring are improving but the spring is not yet open. Lafayette
is still tannic. We’ll post changes periodically on our Facebook page
so be sure to check us out there.
Once they think it is clear enough, someone on the line committee will have to dive it, and tell the rangers, so they will actually open it.

How long ago did they last report? I could see the bottom in the head spring and Snake sink. That's the best I've seen there. I would have guessed 20'+ of vis at the head spring. Kitty was more tannic. I assume either A) it wasn't, and had more to do with lighting conditions or B) the spring tunnel is pumping enough clear water to significantly improve the vis downstream.

I actually got a report 10 days ago. If it is 20ft viz that is great, but one of the problems we encounter frequently is that visibility looking down with bright sunlight doesn't always translate well to cave visibility. When Peacock and Madison blow, and are starting to clear we will hear that I can see "such and such rock",and when we get in that visibility in the cave isn't the same. I hope that it is clearing because we are due for some data collection.
