'and fanatical devotion to the pope!' i love you people.

while i don't think the sky is falling, i have seen some appalling things from very highly regarded instructors and not-so-well-regarded instructors alike. i've seen a rebreather cave class *kneeling in the cave, tying in*. and larry's first cavern class dive was to the lips, which i think is a bit far from the daylight zone.

i still think my instructor is the bee's knees, though he doesn't like sidemount.

but you know, what do we really want to do about it? there's a pretty fine line between 'you're not the scuba police' and 'we are a self-policing community'. remember the time someone posted a concern about how a group was using their stage gas and the thread erupted like a volcano? what if that someone didn't say anything & that group died from poor gas planning? then again, how many people tried to talk to the wayne's world duo? i know these examples weren't instructor/student, but they point out that we just really aren't that good at self-policing unless you mean gossip. that we have down pretty well.

    proud cave tourist!

Is someone running a variation on the "Five Fathom Club" (Full Cave Club)?

And if so, will there be awards granted?

Yessic Spencer used to hang out at the Hudson Grotto back when, I talked with him on seveal occasions (he wanted to dive with me) and I came away with the impression he was a YAHOO COWBOY go from there, just my opinion.

Don't be mad cause I don't care anymore, be mad because I once did and you were to blind to see it.
