    Default Little River 4-24

Just dove little river today. Water still up to first landing on stairs.
Flow more than I expected but still below normal. Vis about 30 feet up to chimney and merry go round. dropped a bit thru the Florida room. Just past 1300' of penetration and a nice ride out with the flow.
22' at the rebar. 114' max depth out to 1300' got low but not all the way as deep as possible.
Tied off to the tree and could easily see the cavern entrance when I got back up to 50' of depth. It is getting back to normal slowly but surely.
There was a lot of silt all over all the ledges etc.
Overall a good dive with the water up that much in the basin.
A lot of swimmers, I was the only diver. Greenish in basin but clears up in Cavern.

A lot of other people use this but I feel that it is very appropriate!

The river level shown in the first picture is down one step from last Saturday (27 April 2013).

Katie and I dove LR on 6/1. Vis was pretty poor. We did the mud tunnel and turned it shortly after hitting the mainline again due to poor viz. Flow was not too bad, but up from my last visit.

It was a madhouse in the parking lot with a LOT of thuglife type youths openly drinking, smoking pot, and being rather rowdy. Not very pleasant to say the least.

We normally go early but had obligations so we didn't get there until around 4pm.

I hit LR 6/2, and can confirm hunabku's report. A discussion in the parking lot yielded an agreement that vis was somewhere between 20 and 40 feet. Due to the quantity of particulate in the water, vis seems to be better if you're not leading.

Most likely due to back scatter. You aren't directly in line with the light of someone in front of you, so you get less back scatter.

That's my take too. Katie was leading and called called it. She told me later it was getting down to ten feet or so.

Didn't seem that bad to me, but I wasn't getting back scatter from her and I rarely point my light directly where I want to look. That helps a alot. So does holdin your light out away from your line of sight.
