Old Aluminum 80s

Don't suppose anyone has any interest in an old SP6498 or E6498 aluminum 80 tank? Restamped 3AL, hydro'd '09 and '10. Insides are clean, both have nasty spray paint on the outsides. Any interest? Anyone, anyone? If not, they're heading to the scrap yard...

Let us know what you get for them.... I have a whole bunch that I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with 'em... I was thinking of making a mail box out of them but I just haven't yet.

I sold 5 for scrap last year and got $75.

I think #2 aluminum goes for about 0.35 a pound plus or minus. Unpainted and no valve you might get #1 which is a little more.

I got $.45/lbs for the last couple 6351 tanks I scrapped a few weeks ago. They were painted, without valves, and had the bottoms cut off (make a great cigar ashtray).

Annnnd they're gone. Got $0.55/lb.

That's almost worth to fill with air and bring it to the scap place. I looked at one once that they got in and thought about buying. That thing was filled with whatever and price was way to high due to the weight.

The metal yard I used required that the valves be removed, otherwise they paid you the "contaminated aluminum" rate of $.15/lb.

Yea, that was without valves.
