Bananas are a must. I also bring fresh dates, organic apples (when in season), and roasted almonds. I've also found that the KIND bars are a great between-dives snack.... And LOTS of water!

When hiking or in the field I make these little packs. I take home made jerky sometimes beef sometimes venison dried cranberries cherries and almonds. Drop it all in a vacuum sealed bag. The flavors blend together it's water proof and you can break it down in portions. Or you can pay $16 for the something called a paleo kit. I mainly live off that And cliff bars when our and about. When I can find it I also depending on the trip and length pack tuna and Tyson makes a pouch of chicken much like the packs of tuna. Hope this helps.

Definitely drink a fair amount of water and eat a couple of bananas before diving. My cave buddy and I have this between and after diving ritual of eating salmonella crackers (Lance's peanut butter crackers). One year we were cave diving and there was a salmonella peanut product out break. We were eating these crackers when we heard about it and the name just stuck.

Consider this my opinion.......sometimes I'm even right, but remember.........YMMV.

I usually stop at the Walmart in Live Oak and grab bananas, a bag of the tropical fruit trail mix (has dried fruit, nuts, etc.). One thing I have historically bought on dive trips, for some reason, and never eat otherwise, is a pack of oatmeal cookies. Sometimes I just munch on these and the other snacks during the day and in between dives and just blow off lunch.

I try to mix some healthiness with, hey, this is vacation enjoyment.

It is not so much what you eat when you are on a dive trip. It is more what you eat most of the time. On a dive trip, you can afford to eat carbohydrates, because you need the energy. Unless you are a commercial diver, or instructor, diving is a small part of your life. You should eat a healthy diet everyday, not just when you are diving.

all depends on your dietary goals IMO

i normally go for jerky because it's protein rich and not particularly calorie dense

I cook up big batches of bite size tasty meat and bag it up into snack sizes. Add some yummy cheeses cut up into baggies, some carrots, and some nuts (no, the dive buddies don't count). Easy to share, easy to eat while prepping or driving between sites. And easy on the blood sugar roller coaster.

LOL, with all the banana eaters on here, one can definitely tell we're not superstitious boaters One more benefit of cave diving, eh?
