The river is about 10' above normal, so you can add about 10' to any depth in the cave.

What is interesting that during various rainy seasons I have seen Little River with clear visability but a deep greenish tint to it running from the basin stairs almost to the chimmney.
Other times when the water was high, it was entirely tannic & near zero vis running nearly to the tie off at the chimmney. I guess as long as there is flow you will have safe vis beyond the tie off. I rememeber a flow reversal too one year, running down the mud tunnel. That is bizaare too.

The best diving here seems to be in the middle of our winters. During the cold snaps where we've had little or no rains.

Sounds about right, looking at the picture with the water at the first landing I would have thought about 2-3 feet from normal level to the walkway around, and another 10 Steps to the landing ( just guessed the step) which equals about 7'.

Just to confirm, the level is indeed about 10' up - my computer had me doing 10' deco in the rocks where kids normally splash in the shallows. Visibility below the tannic is now nearly back to normal - but it all looks different because bits that are normally white have had a brown layer of mud deposited on them.

Charles, thanks for conditions update? How deep is the tannic water? Any spring water "hole" punched through the tannic layer?

Clearer water is trying to break through the tannic but the effect can only so far be seen from below: at the 10' stop you now have brown light filtering down, a few days ago it was pretty black at the same place. I still found the yellow thread useful getting from bottom of steps to The Log. Very clear inside and low flow. Great!!

LR is just fine, the cave is clear all things considered, no reverse danger, 50+ viz in the cave.

Drove over to Little River this afternoon with possible thoughts of diving but it didn't appear inviting. The parking lot was full as the locals were out enjoying the high water levels for diving and swimming to beat the heat today. Water was up past the first stair landing and folks were lining up to dive off of the stair railings. The water appeared greenish and rust color.
