I had a customer whom I know very well come into the shop and tell me he dove Little River yesterday. He said it was at most 15 foot of viz and stayed that way all the way thru Merry go round. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Yes, but there is another big pulse of flood water coming down the Suwannee. If it comes by while you are in the cave, it might be a hard swim out, BE CAREFUL!

Never had to pull out of Little River, that would be different.

Worthy of mentioning that some of these sites post flooding will have a lot of organic debris washed into the system,so exit visibility could be cut in half or more because of percolation,silting etc. I dove a system recently that hadn't been good since Debby,and the amount of line breakage was amazing due to the amount of debris washed in. Little River has goldline,but a branch being sucked in by high river levels,can rip out a lot of line.

Diving these caves post flood, when they look like they may be OK can be very dangerous due to heavy silt and lines being deeply buried and broken.
Please do not rush it.

I just looked at the river level at Branford, and the Suwannee has just about crested, meaning that there will still be a slight syphon for a couple of days. It will still be a mess in there, and visibility will be low, but the park is now open - ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! Be prepared to turn back if the line is compromised!

FWIW, I would tie off on the stairs.

That's about the same water level as when I first dove LR in the spring of 2006, but then, with lots more water in the aquifer, there was a boil and the cave was clear. There was a line with a slate on it running from the steps to the re-bar.

Add that depth to the normal depth and LR becomes a trimix dive.

Hi guys,

I toodled up to the Florida room 2 days ago. Water level about 2/3 of the way up the steps. Visibility VERY limited in the basin, but once you get to The Log it clears up, not to normal LR standards, but about where Peacock normally is late afternoon when people have stirred it up. I left a thin line in place from a post 1/3 way down the steps to The Log.
